I. Antiphon »O aeterne Deus« with Psalm 109/110

o aeterne Deus, nunc tibi placeats,
ut in amore illo ardeas,
ut membra illa simus,
quae fecisti in eodem amore,
cum Filium tuum genuisti
in prima aurora ante omnem creaturam,
et inspice necessitatem hanc, quae super nos cadit,
et abstrahe eam a nobis propter Filium tuum,
et perduc nos on laetitiam salutis.

Psalm 109/110

Dixit Dominus Domino meo: „Sede a dextris meis“,
donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.
Virgam potentiae tuae emittet Dominus ex Sion:
dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum.
Tecum principatus in die virtutis tuae,
in splendoribus sanctis,
ex utero ante luciferum genui te.
luravit Dominus et non paenitebit eum:
„Tu es sacerdos in aeternum secundum ordinem Melchisedech.“
Dominus a dextris tuis, conquassabit in die irae suae reges.
ludicapit in nationibus: cumulantur cadavera,
conquassabit cpita in terra spatiosa.
De torrente in via bibet,
propterea exaltabit caput.
Gloria Patri. …

Ordo Virtutum

Patriarchae et Prophetae:
Qui sunt hi, qui ut nubes?
Virtutes:
O antiqui sancti, quid admiramini in nobis? Verbum Dei clarescit in forma hominis, et ideo fulgemus cum illo, aedificantes membra sui pulchri corporis.
Patriarchae et Prophetae:
Nos sumus radices et vos rami, fruchtus viventis oculi, et nos umbra in illo fuimus.

Texts (English)

I. Antiphon »O aeterne Deus« with Psalm 109/110

O eternal Lord, it is pleasing to you, to burn in that same fire of love, like that from which our bodies are born, and from which you begot your Son, in the first dawn before all of Creation, So consider this need which falls upon us, and relieve us of it for the sake of your Son, and lead us in joyous property.

Psalm 109/110

The Lord said to my lord: “ Sit on my right, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.“ A rod of your power the Lord will send out from Sion: „And exercise dominion in the midst of your enemies! With you is rule on a day of your power, among the splendours of the holy ones; From the womb, before Morning star, I brought you forth.“ The Lord swore and will not change his mind: „You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchisedech.“ The Lord at your right hand had broken kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins, he shall crush the heads in the land of the many. He shall drink of the torrent in the way; therefore shall he lift up the head. Glory be to the Father. …

From the Play of the Virtues

Patriarchs and Prophets:
Who are these, who seem like clouds?
Virtues:
O ancient holy ones, why do you marvel at us? The Word of God grows bright in the form of a man, and thus we shine with him, building the limbs of his beautiful body.
Patriarchs and Prophets:
We are roots, and you are branches, the fruit of the living eye, of which we were the shadow.
